Hey ya'll, so when i was on tour last summer i met and was lucky to hear the Midtown Dickens play in Durham North Carolina. These two women put on a spell-binding downhome session of sweet & funny songs played on multiple instruments. They came thru Gainesville for a show in Septermber with soulful folk experimentalist Malcolm Rollick from Brooklyn. The Rochevanies from here rocked out that night with us too.
Hell yeah! It was a really fun and beautiful show.

Lars Din SongRiot released the new collection of original songs on April 28 at Common Grounds in Gainesville, Florida. The band played with the Deep and Holy Sea, and the Ones to Blame, as well as celebrating May Day with a Pig Pinata.
The CD is available in some local stores, as we get them there, or by ordering online through the paypal link above.
The songs on "Freedom's Nightmare," Lars Din's first release since 2004's "Know Where You Are / Conflict," romp playfully through a Florida landscape populated by floods, junk dealers, self-conscious armies, broken-hearted travelers, riots, annoying dogs, addiction, and bicycle accidents, all back-lit by a tenacious hope in the future.

OLD NEWS:
Well all right, almost november. new items: i uploaded "down the road for a spell" performance ramblings and "Lars Din Sings for the CMC," which some of you have asked me for copies of. It is out of print or whatever, so make yourself a little CD or add em to your mp3 playlist. the CD was originally a benefit for the Civic Media Center, so click on over there and donate unless you're tapped out from supporting songriot (wink)...
keep missing sunny days to go and take the photos for the new record. maybe tomorrow? looks like it will be 2007 before "songriot!" is ready to put into your cd player. hope you find it worth the wait...
mid september...not been inspired to update the site lately. i'm working on the new record. hopefully, it will be ready for your ears by the dead days of early
this is becoming a kind of diary of the last months...

Good acoustics at First Street Music Hall on Friday, April 28, 2006. We played sorta in the traditional way of the band lined up before three ambient microphones. We contributed a half hour performance to benefit the Civic Media Center Poetry Jam Book Project. Also performing were Lacey Nagy and Kylie Slavik of Third Eye Spoken, Kristie Soares and Katrina Ruiz of the Apartment Poets, Phil Godwin, Johnny Rocket, Eric Stubbs, Jimmy Fishhawk, and Prophet of What!? of the Letter Bomb Collective, and performance artist Sheila Bishop.
We played April 18 at the lovely Common Grounds in Gainesville, FL with Dave Dondero and Cassette (Samantha Jones). It was a fun show--the first one this Conspiracy has done at a medium-sized rock venue. The sound-person Mike was extremely helpful, in spite of our showing up last minute like rock stars :O thanks to Mike we have live recordings five of the songs that we played that night. They'll be posted for your listening ecstacy here shortly. [ Three live recordings are available streaming from the "Listen!" drop-down menu above]
Dave played tons of awesome old songs, and some rockin new tunes. Check out his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/davedondero
Sam played a set that was too short, so beautiful. The Common Grounds website:

The band has been growing with Watson on mandolin and guitar, Sharon on accordion, George on trumpet, and Tyler with the double bass. We're all singing; there's so much talent in this group of people, it's pretty exciting. Come listen!
You might hear the songs we be playing you can hear as streaming mp3s in the "new songs / snippets." For example, check out Smoke .
The recording of that song (also of Locked Away, Stones of Augustine, Different Kind Of Army) is a rough mix, a sneak listen if you will, of the forthcoming album, gingerly entitled, "Is The Wreck Over?" Due out in September, the album will be an eclectic collection of Lars Din tunes, recorded over the last two years, straddling a fair life-section of addled unmanageability and tentative steps toward stability.
